The 6-step framework I’m using to smash my 2024 goals…

2024 is in 3 days!

Today, I’ll show you how to set and smash your 2024 goals.

I’ve been setting goals for over a decade now.

But I achieved none until 2020.

One time, I aimed to become a teenage millionaire before I made my first digital dollar.

Set goals, then do nothing towards the goals.

That was my life.

I wasn’t American, but you bet I was dreaming.

It seems I thought the goals would achieve themselves.

I never created time to learn how to achieve them. Rather, I got distracted by the dopamine released when we set goals. Setting goals became my unconscious goal.

Things changed in 2020 when I actually started moving towards my goals.

I was impressed with myself. But I fell off in mid-2020 and picked up an unhealthy gaming habit. The kind that took me from rising at 4 am in January to sleeping at 4 am in May.

I never picked back momentum until 2022 — the first full year I made Future Francis proud. I achieved that year’s goal in 7 months — which was 5000 followers and $1000 in online income.

Though I didn’t reach my 2023 goals, I’ve used my shortcomings to create a bulletproof plan to make 2024 a W.

Here’s the 7-step plan:

Before we proceed, the first course in The Everything Series launches this week.

(PS: The Everything Series is a series where I share the lessons I used to go from 3 to 100,000 X followers in 23 months.)

At first, planned to make the first a course helping beginners create their niche. But it’s evolved into a Self-creation masterclass.

If you want to build a solid personal brand, you must build yourself first.

In the course, I’ll show you how to turn yourself into a purposeful, profitable business (as I did).

Turn on notifications on my X account to know when it goes live.

Step 1: Set a Y.M.B.I. goal — for vision and filtration.

(Y.M.B.I. = You Must Be Insane.)

Being exceptional requires being an exception.

Most people set easy goals and fail because they’re bored.

Easy goals are no fun. Difficult goals invoke anxiety. You need a goal that’s neither easy nor hard to find true enjoyment and self-growth.

Set Y.M.B.I. goals for all areas of your life — so you don’t end up 1/4th of your potential.

  • Mind

  • Body

  • Soul (including relationships)

  • Business

Step 2: Make them timely — for clarity

Goals without deadlines are vague and effortless to fail.

When you slap a date on your goals, they become concrete and specific. This makes objectives clear, making them easier to track and correct course if needed.

Think of them as checkpoints in a racing game.

I’ve minced my 2024 goals into Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4 goals.

Step 3: Create the daily doables — for practicality

Anyone can set goals. But few can finish the story. But if you clarify the daily actions needed to achieve your goals, I guarantee you can win 2024.

If your goal is to make $100k, your daily doables should look like:

  • Complete 3 hours of undisturbed lever-moving work

  • Drink 3 litres of sparkling water (necessary)

  • Send 50 outreach messages

  • Meditate for 20 minutes

  • Get on 5 sales calls

  • Read for an hour

This makes winning easy because you know what to do.

It’s also obvious when you are or aren’t progressing.

Do {actions}, get {rewards}. Don’t do {actions}, don’t get {rewards}.

Step 4: Schedule the daily doables.

During my 2023 review, I noticed I always completed tasks I added to my Google Calendar and never did those I didn’t schedule.

That’s it. Stop overcomplicating it.

Create a routine so every minute serves you. Or make ‘not having a routine’ your routine and become a servant of time.

This is my daily routine, by the way…..

(Yes, I’m a biphasic sleeper. 8 hour nights never suited me.)

Step 5: Mark anything blocking your doables as a distraction and thrash them.

A distraction is anything that prevents you from making traction — even if it’s productive.

If you didn’t plan to do it earlier, it’s a distraction. Again, you need a routine. Without one, you’re exposed to eternal distraction and mediocrity.

Once you’ve spotted distractions, segment them into:

  • Ideal for goals

  • Not ideal for goals

Schedule a time for ideal distractions, or do them after you’ve finished the tasks you planned. Delete the useless tasks.

Step 6: Schedule reflection time.

I always reflect on the last day of ‘my’ week: Sunday.

When God called it the day of rest, I don’t think ‘rest’ there meant solely ‘sleep all day.’

Rest, to me, is preparing for the next work bout; which so happens to include sleep. The key aspects of rest have nothing to do with resting. They are introspecting, reviewing and planning. Without them, you’ll keep circling your current level and never level up.

Schedule 30 minutes for course correction per week to prevent 30 weeks of confusion.

Step 7: Use Pacts to make it hard to not work hard

A pact is a contract you make with yourself to do what you promised, no matter what. There are 3 types:

(1) Effort Pact: Make it physically harder to avoid what you promised to do.

  • Example: Have a colleague seize your phone until you finish your writing for the day.

(2) Price Pact Make it financially harder to avoid what you promised to do.

  • Example: Donate {egregious sum} to a cause you hate if you don’t walk 10k steps every day for a week.

(3) Identity Pact Make it psychologically harder to avoid what you promised to do.

  • Example: Identify as a designer and design daily to cast votes for that identity.

The effort pact I’m using in 2024 is an accountability group. It’s harder to tell people I trust I’ll do something and then fail than to do the tasks, so I’ll do the tasks.

Those are the 7 steps.

You wanna know what my goal is?

I won’t tell.

Don’t tell anyone yours either.

Dr Andrew Hubeman says we release dopamine similar to achievement when we tell others our goals, making us unmotivated to follow through.

I’ll tell you what I’ve done and what I’m doing, not what I’m about to do.

Merry Christmas in arias, and have a wholesome 2024!
